Now owned and managed by Liz Thomas, High Corner is an elegant, historical landmark in Makhanda (Grahamstown) offering superior accommodation on a bed & breakfast or self-catering basis, with 6 beautifully appointed en-suite rooms in the main house and 3 two-bedroomed cottages. We have a wonderful garden hidden away behind old stone walls, a swimming pool and a covered patio.

 

High Corner is centrally situated, directly opposite the Drostdy Arch entrance to Rhodes University, and is within easy walking distance to numerous restaurants and coffee shops, museums, the  business centre and the High Court.

Educational Interest

 

SciFest Africa, South Africa's National Science Festival is held annually in March with an emphasis on promoting science, technology and innovation. Grahamstown is also home to the Albany Museum.

Cultural Sites

 

Visit the National English Literary Museum, known as one of South Africa's literary treasures. Located on the Rhodes University  campus, this impressive building has won a '5-star green' construction rating.

National Arts Festival

 

Held in June/July over 11 days ,and also known as the Grahamstown Festival, the National Arts Festival is the biggest annual celebration of the arts on the African continent.
